Imo reason that often gets said "it fetishize gay people" is just secondary though for many criticizing BL/yaoi genre. If I have the choice between shipping abuser x victim or being homophobic, I think I'm fine with the latter.
It's most probably because I used to be a huge fan of a series that was nothing more than fujo-bait and so most of my interactions online have been with fujoshis specially when I was new to the anime community. I've always been on odds with them and overall I find them and their way of thinking to be very annoying. It's actually the fujoshis that makes me hate the genre. Besides when really good titles come by everyone talks about them so I'll eventually pick them up. After all I'm here to enjoy anime/manga not to seek approval from someone or prove myself to be more open-minded or pro-LGBT by watching/reading gay porn. And honesty I find sex in itself quite disgusting so I avoid that as well in any media I consume - homo or hetero.īL fans often say that there are many good titles you just have to look harder but the fact is that looking for a good BL is like finding a needle in a haystack - not worth it. But what pisses me off the most is the victim not even trying to get away or do anything about the situation. I find rape to be very disturbing and it's very annoying when a series does everything in it's power to portray an abusive relationship as very romantic and the perpetrator as the best guy in the world. Point B pretty much sums up why I don't like yaoi.
